Art & Communication 2002 – Rome (I)
Rome is a city of peace, for millennia a crossroads of civilizations and religions; a city that has increasingly qualified as a city of hospitality and tolerance. In this spirit, we have invited – together with FAO – a significant number of artists to be present, with their video images, in an exhibition that stands next to the dispossessed of the world and the innocent victims of terrorism and war. Images that give strength to Rome’s action in favor of national and international solidarity: a way, moreover, to indicate the importance of actions and artistic research in these times of tension; in particular the arts that work with the media and that develop new forms of expression.
Indeed, the Peace Tower enhances Rome not only its vocation for universalism and the active memory of the past, but also that – no less decisive today – for the production and critical use of contemporary and audiovisual art.
